Specialist police are heading to an Albury aged care home after the discovery of a hand grenade.
Police are still treating reports of a hand grenade as a live incident, despite a large number of officers leaving the scene.
While roads around the incident are open, the Yallaroo Residential Care Home on Stafford Road, Albury remains blocked off with signs declaring it a hot zone or contaminated area and telling the public to keep clear.
The area remains taped off.
The majority of officers have left the scene but a few police officer remain.
Specialist police were called after the grenade was found.
It is unclear how the device ended up at the aged care facility.
The site houses those with declining health, dementia, complex medical needs and those needing respite care, with 24-hour nursing services.
The Border Mail contacted the service for comments.
Lutheran did not return calls.

Police are on the scene at an Albury aged care facility after receiving reports a hand grenade had been discovered.
Officers were called to Stafford Road, Albury, about 10.20am on Tuesday.
Police responded after a call was made following of what was thought to be a hand grenade.
IN OTHER NEWS:
The facility has been sealed off.
The road has been blocked off and is expected to remain closed for a lengthy period.
A police spokeswoman said nobody was injured but inquiries were ongoing.
