Dylan Dubois has been in Junee jail since his arrest in July and won't be released on parole until next month.
Magistrate Imad Abdul-Karim told the 18-year-old in Albury Local Court on Tuesday that he set a long period on parole because his rehabilitation was paramount.

Mr Abdul-Karim said now was the time for Dubois to finally turn his life around.
The court was told that Dubois had no links to the Albury area.
He came at the behest of two co-offenders who he had met in custody.
Dubois and his co-offenders drove a car stolen in Young overnight on July 3 and began a series of thefts from cars in East Albury from about 3.30am the next day.
Items were taken from parked cars, including a laptop computer and tools, while in another case, keys were taken from the kitchen of a Thurgoona home.
The victim's car, containing $600 cash and headphones, was then driven away.
Dubois pleaded guilty to being carried in a stolen car, enter enclosed lands, larceny and deal with the proceeds of crime.
