Albury Northside Chamber of Commerce will officially launch their AlburyCBD giftcard program this Saturday through an interactive CBD-wide treasure hunt.

Already 50 shops have signed up to the scheme, which allows someone to purchase a card loaded with money that can be redeemed at any participating business.

Business development officer Megan Cullen said the giftcard was designed to keep money in the community.

"For every dollar spent in the local community, it has a flow on effect in wages and the longevity of businesses being around," she said.

"For me the giftcard means supporting the livelihood and well-being of Albury CBD businesses and community."

Bliss Skin and Body's Kellie McDonald said she was 'genuinely excited' to be part of the initiative that encourages people to shop local.

"The gift cards are a great way to connect our local community and [to] support one another," she said.

Ms Cullen said the giftcards would be ideal for clubs to include in their raffles and great Christmas presents for staff.

"Rather than opting for traditional gift cards that lock the gift receiver into one store, you open up the opportunity to shop at a variety of businesses, all within the local area," she said.

Ms Cullen said as part of the launch, both a customer and a business would receive a $50 giftcard. For more details: alburycbd.com.au.
