Jawwaal had won his previous two starts at Albury and Wagga by a combined margin of 14-lengths, prompting Beer to raise the bar and head to Flemington.
The vastly improved sprinter didn't disappoint to produce a career best peformance after storming home for second at the big odds of $31.
Beer said there weren't too many country sprinters in better form than Jawwaal with the last remaining slot in the Koscuiszko still up for grabs.

"We thought he could run a race and the horse went terrific," Beer said.
"He is racing in career best form and wouldn't be out of place in the Koscuiszko.
"There are horses that are in contention for the final slot that haven't won two races by a combined margin of 14-lengths and then run second at Flemington.
"He put a pretty good case forward today."
