A flood watch is in place for the North East as up to 120 millimetres of rain is expected in the next 48 hours.

The Bureau of Meteorology has placed a minor flood watch on the Upper Murray, Mitta Mitta and Kiewa rivers with the heaviest rainfall expected from Thursday morning.
"A low pressure system will deepen over northernwestern Victoria this evening before tracking south during Thursday," the BOM statement said.
"Some of the catchments in the flood watch area are moderately wet from recent rainfall. In the 48 hours to midday Friday, wide spread rainfall totals of 40-70 mm are forecast over the North East ranges.
"There could also be isolated totals of 80-120 mm on elevated areas.

"River rises are likely in the flood watch catchments in response to the forecast rain and flooding may develop from Thursday morning onwards."
The Ovens and Kind rivers are also on flood watch.
The BOM is forecasting another 15 to 25 millimetres in Albury-Wodonga on Thursday before the wet weather clears for the weekend.
The Border recorded just 7.4 millimetres since Monday until 3pm on Wednesday.
