However the first-term MP was unwilling to comment on Ms Berejiklian's evidence to a corruption hearing that she had been in a relationship with disgraced former Wagga MP Daryl Maguire.
"My personal view of the Premier is of someone who works incredibly hard for the state," Mr Clancy said.
Asked about how he now viewed Ms Berejiklian's integrity, Mr Clancy declined to say.
"A number of people from the Albury community have contacted me in support of the Premier, that's been the overwhelming message I've received," Mr Clancy said.
His predecessor Greg Aplin, who entered parliament in 2003 along with Ms Berejiklian, was more candid in his reaction to the evidence given at the Independent Commission Against Corruption on Monday.
"It did come as a shock," Mr Aplin, who retired last year, said.
"It took me some time to comprehend because you try to think about if there were any signs and there weren't any."

Mr Aplin said he also had been stunned about the evidence to emerge about Mr Maguire who is accused of using his parliamentary office for personal gain.
"As far I knew he was working hard for his own electorate, I had no knowledge of his other activities," he said.
Mr Aplin said there were questions hovering over Ms Berejiklian and her tie to Mr Maguire, who is due to give evidence today.
"Did it cloud her judgement, that's something history will show or probes will," Mr Aplin said.
"She needs to explain about the knowledge she had, but I've no doubt it hasn't impaired her ability.
"She's been chosen to do the job, she's proven her capacity to do the job and she should continue unless it's proven there is anything that would undermine that ability."
