A North East man accused of shaking his baby has had charges dropped in court, allowing him to be released from custody.

It had been alleged the man shook the 11-week-old, causing the infant to have seizures and spend weeks in hospital.
But prosecutor Sam Davison recently told the Wodonga Magistrates Court that charges of intentionally causing serious injury, and recklessly causing serious injury, were being withdrawn.
The father was on the verge of tears after receiving the news.
The court wasn't told why the charges were being dropped.
The case had been investigated by Wodonga child abuse detectives.

It had previously been alleged in court that the 11-week-old child had seizures and spent several weeks in a Melbourne hospital.
The court had been told last month that the child didn't have any ongoing issues.
The man had served a stint in jail after admitting to breaking into a Wodonga business.
The sentence had finished and the man was being held on the baby charges, allowing his release when the case was dropped.
