There are renewed calls for the federal government to follow through on its commitment to introduce a national integrity commission, in the wake of Gladys Berejiklian's relationship with former Wagga MP Daryl Maguire being revealed at the NSW ICAC this week.

Indi MP Helen Haines said the situation with Ms Berejiklian will increase support for a federal body.
Asked if the reveal of Ms Berejiklian and Mr Maguire's relationship was how an ICAC should work, Dr Haines said it was important that a "public hearing is well-informed and clearly in the public interest".
"The commission needs to be sure that the risk of damage to personal reputation is justified by the decision to ask these questions in a public forum," she said.
"My Australian Federal Integrity Commission bill, which I'm introducing into Parliament this month, strikes the right balance.
"I've spoken with expert legal minds and federal MPs from across the political spectrum and have their support that my approach won't trash personal reputations for no reason."
Dr Haines said the Parliament has been waiting almost two years now for the government to release its draft bill for a federal integrity commission.
Labor MPs have also this week called for the government to take action on the federal commission.
