Albury-Wodonga Health region is closing on a very significant milestone - 100 days without a fresh COVID-19 case.
It's a record the cross-border health service can be proud of, but also the community which has, by and large, been meticulous in keeping our part of the world virus-free.
But as we hit a 90th successive day without a new case there would have been plenty of hearts skipping a beat when the news of three cases at Shepparton emerging overnight was fully processed.
How could that happen?
It didn't take long for the chain of events to become clear and anger soon became the over-riding sentiment.
White hot rage was expressed at the revelation the person who caused the Kilmore cluster last week did not disclose they had also travelled to Shepparton.
The Victorian government's contact tracing system has come in for some justified criticism for its slow off the mark work during the pandemic, but no blame could be apportioned in this instance.
Eyebrows have been raised at the Melbourne truck driver responsible escaping a fine for breaking COVID rules in dining at the Kilmore cafe, but the latitude must end.
The stakes are too high, the state is on the cusp of taking another step on the road to recovery, we can't afford any more slip-ups.
Shepparton locations have been separated into High Risk and Locations of Concern.— Heidi Murphy (@heidimur) October 14, 2020
Visits to the 6 High Risk spots = get tested & quarantine 14 days, regardless of symptoms.
Visits to Concern spots = get tested & stay home to await results. Test again at first sign of symptoms.
We applaud the thousands of Shepparton residents who came forward to be tested yesterday.
People have to take responsibility for their own actions and be held accountable if they don't.
Premier Daniel Andrews pleaded with Victorian to be honest if approached by contact tracers.
His sentiment is fine, but a double standard exists for Mr Andrews as he bangs his fist on the desk
Senior ministers and bureaucrats from his government haven't exactly been open and transparent at the hotel quarantine inquiry where events under investigation have led to a tortuous second wave.
We're not going to get to the other side unless everyone, from the Premier to Joe Public, is pulling in the same direction.
