The 2.4 magnitude event was recorded just before 5pm, according to information from federal government agency Geoscience Australia.
It had a depth of 10 kilometres.
Geoscience Australia did not specify whether the incident was felt by residents.
The Corryong earthquake was one of eight recorded throughout Australia in the past week, the others occurring in Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia.
An earthquake in Collinsville, a rural town in Queensland, on Wednesday was the largest at 3.7 magnitude.
