Brent Rose, 30, has a poor history including priors for drug-driving.
Albury Local Court this week heard officers stopped the North Albury resident in Leeton on Anzac Day and an oral fluid test was positive to marijuana and ice.
Rose was given a 24-hour driving ban and further tests confirmed the presence of the two drugs.
IN OTHER NEWS:
The court heard he has a drug-driving prior.
"Just grow up," magistrate Richard Funston told him.
"Seriously.
"You're too old for this."
Lawyer Mark Cronin said Rose had returned home to catch up with mates.
He said his client often got himself into trouble with those mates.
Mr Cronin said his client, who works as a concreter, moved to the area to play football.
He had used drugs at home a day before the test and was shocked by the result.
Mr Funston noted Rose's poor history and fined him $600, warning the penalties would only get bigger.
"Each time you come to court, it gets more," he said.
He was also banned from driving for seven months.
