After abandoning the regular home and away season in July because of COVID-19, the Border hockey association was flooded with interest to get some form of competition off the ground in 2020 and launched the modified eights format in August.
Eights weeks of competitive hockey took place with clubs and players on the NSW side of the border split into teams to contest premier men's and women's seasons.

Grey won the grand final in the men's division, while Pink proved too strong in the premier women's.
Captains Sam Quick and Megs Cockayne were on deck at the presentation night to accept trophies on behalf of their teams.
"The mood was high and we had at least one representative from all the senior teams, which was pleasing," HAW sport operations manager Cayte Campbell said.
