"Unfortunately our customers in the Wodonga area have experienced several outages in the past few days," a spokesman told The Border Mail.
"We're very sorry for the inconvenience caused. We're installing new technology to reduce the risk of bushfire in Wodonga and the wider upper Murray region.
"This is important for everyone's safety over summer, and testing it to make sure it will work as it should is a complicated process.
"Your power should be back on - please call our faults and emergencies line on 13 17 99 if it isn't."
The spokesman said testing will continue today but not over the weekend.
"We know how important Grand Final Day is for all Victorians - testing will continue on the Friday, but there will be no testing on Saturday or Sunday," he said.
Rapid Earth Fault Current Limiter, or REFCL, is being installed in selected hazardous bushfire risk areas.
IN OTHER NEWS:
It is estimated that REFCLs could cut powerline fires in Victoria by about 50 per cent, according to the Victorian Government's Powerline Bushfire Safety Taskforce.
AusNet Services is installing REFCLs in 22 locations in outer Melbourne and across northern and eastern Victoria.
