Daniel Boyton's matter was briefly listed in the Wodonga Magistrates Court on Monday following his arrest on Wednesday.
Lawyer Mario Vaccaro had last week flagged a possible bid for release but said that wouldn't go ahead.
"The matter is proceeding as a filing hearing," he told magistrate Ian Watkins.
"There are no other applications to be made today."
Technical issues had initially prevented the accused man from appearing in court, but he later appeared on a video link from the Wodonga Police Station.
