Griffin replaced Nagus Henry in the top job this year and won his first game in charge against Twin City Wanderers before the season came to a halt due to COVID-19.

He's thrilled to get the chance again to prove himself as a senior coach.

"I felt like we started something really great, but unfortunately COVID came along and we had to stop, which was understandable," Griffin said.

"To get the opportunity to go around again is pretty huge for me."

Griffin wants to get Diamonds' senior group back together earlier than a normal pre-season and aims to have them on the training track within two weeks.

"The guys have had almost four months without any organised training," Griffin said.

"A lot of them have been doing their own thing, which is great, but we've had a longer break than we normally would.

"The guys all responded really well to the training last year and we'll be expecting the same sort of attitude again."

Andrew Grove has recommitted as Boomers coach, but revealed he'll share the role more with the club's 2017 senior mentor Decha Saisanid, who will continue to lead the reserves.

"The senior and reserve squads will be a bit closer. This year it was split a bit more because of the age difference and a lot of thirds players were playing reserves," Grove said.

"I've just had my first child and Decha recently had his second child, so it takes the pressure off a bit if something happens because we know someone else is going to be there to take over.

"Decha and I and have coached and played together for 10 years now, so hopefully it should all flow from this year into next year.

"We've always got Steve (Hayes), Wayne (Fraser) and Matt Burt to float around and assist us, so it will be very much similar to last year."

Meanwhile, Steve McLennan has stepped down as Albury United coach following two years at the helm.

McClennan guided the Greens to third in the league in the 2019 season after taking over from Scott Kidd.

"I'm enjoying the freedom with the family and not having the commitment and responsibility," McLennan said.

A replacement is yet to be announced.
