An unaccompanied learner has been caught driving at 160km/h on a dangerous road while rain was falling.

Sergeant Cameron Roberts said the 23-year-old's actions on Friday night could have easily resulted in a fatality.
The Wooragee man was caught in the town about 7.20pm, travelling on the Beechworth-Wodonga Road.
"You lose control at that speed, at that location, it's not going to end well," he said.
"There's also the risk that it exposed others to as well.
"There are a lot of trees either side of the road and at that speed if you hit a tree or a fixed object, there's not going to be a lot left of your or the car."
The man's vehicle was impounded.

He was charged with driving at a speed dangerous, exceeding the speed limit, and having no learner plates or accompanying driver.
The road was wet at the time and there was poor visibility.
There have multiple fatal crashes on the road.
"It's certainly a length of road we're very aware of," Sergeant Roberts said.
"We spend tie out there, hence why we were able to pick this person up."
