Coronavirus concerns and gathering restrictions have caused both Wodonga and Wangaratta RSL sub branches to cancel their planned ceremonies.
Wangaratta residents will be able to watch an online service for Remembrance Day and lay a wreath themselves after the ceremony.
Wodonga RSL Sub branch secretary Kathryn Chamberlain said the ceremony would not be possible.
"We were hopeful that restrictions would be lifted sufficiently for us to hold a commemorative ceremony, unfortunately it is not to be," she said.

Wodonga RSL Sub branch president Jim Begley called for residents to donate to the annual poppy appeal.
Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews said gathering to mark Remembrance Day was not safe.
"It is not appropriate for us to do anything that is not safe, at this point large crowds, even outdoors, are very challenging," he said.
"I don't think it will detract from the poignance and the sacred nature of that day."
Currently 50 people can gather for outdoor faith ceremonies in regional Victoria.
In Albury, the RSL Sub branch has confirmed an invitation-only event of 70 people would be going ahead due to COVID restrictions.
Greater Hume Shire's Walla Remembrance Day event will go ahead with social distancing and hand sanitising in place. The ceremony begins at 10.30am at the town's Bi-Centennial Park.
Melbourne's Remembrance Day commemoration will be livestreamed from the Shine of Remembrance, but residents will not be able to attend.
