THE date of the border reopening, November 23, will also be when a $3.65 million upgrade to the Riverina Highway, 15 kilometres west of Howlong, begins.

A 3.4-kilometre section of the road will have its surface upgraded, shoulders widened, rumble strips added and centre lines widened.
Works start on Monday 23 November and will be done from 7am to 6pm weekdays and from 7am to 1pm Saturdays before an April end date.
