A Wodonga school student has been held up with a knife during a failed armed robbery attempt.

The student was approached by a young male at Huon campus of Wodonga Middle Years College about 2.30pm on Friday.
They demanded cash near the school's bike shed.
The victim didn't hand over any money and ran to the school's office to report the incident.
Detective Leading Senior Constable Tracy Jarrott said the offender had been on a bike, and was with a second person on a bike.

"It's concerning that there are youths in our community getting around carrying knives and weapons," she said.
"We're seeking anyone who might have been in that area at the time, anyone who may have seen or heard anything, to contact us.
"The victim didn't hand over any cash and ran to report it."
