There is very little agreement about how the boundaries of Indi should look by the time of the next federal election.

The Australia Electoral Commission is conducting its latest Victorian federal redistribution and submissions have not proposed any changes to the North East.
This includes no mention of Yarrawonga returning to Indi, after it was switched from Murray in the early 2000s - an electorate now known as Nicholls.
Four submissions, including from both the Liberal and Labor parties, suggest moving the town of Euroa from Indi to Nicholls and three other submissions propose moving Kinglake to McEwan.
Many of these submissions referred to Indi's high population numbers.
Only the National Party proposed making Indi even bigger.
Its suggestion was to move Kinglake West from McEwan into Indi, where the main area of Kinglake is situated, raising the electorate's population from 114,106 to an estimated 119,174.

The Nationals argued that regional electorates should not be made smaller during the coronavirus pandemic because they said population projections are less reliable than ever.
"The primary factor on which Victoria's population growth has historically depended upon has been overseas migration and, to a lesser extent, interstate migration. COVID-19 has had immediate effects on our state's population growth, with no guarantees of a quick return to pre-pandemic levels," they said.
Indi MP Helen Haines did not want any change to Indi's boundaries at all.
"I note that in the most recent distribution Indi both gained and lost significant areas from neighbouring electorates. I think it is important wherever possible to maintain continuity for electors in these recently redistributed areas and for local government areas to align with federal electorate distribution," she said.
"In relation to Indi's projected population growth, I further note that as Indi and the majority of its neighbouring electorates are projected to remain within the targeted 2025 projected enrollment quota, that current boundaries should be maintained as closely as possible."
