Unfortunately, the big Kiwi will also go down in history as one of two batsmen to be dismissed first ball during Sunday's successful Shave for Smithy Twenty20 Big Bash Cup match at Thurgoona.
Angus KIlby was the other.
Tuffey skied a ball and could consider himself desperately unlucky to fall to the only outfield catch of the day.
The rules allowed him to have a second chance with the Lavington coach and his G.J. Gardner teammates recovering to chase down Kubic Transport's score of 205 in the final over.
Nathan Brown, Lucas Mellier and Tyler Roberson were among the runs with Mellier named man of the match.
Due to a poor preparation, Dave Tassell struggled to find his line and length while Shane Borella spilt two sitters off Brad Thompson's bowling.
Kade Brown and Brett Doswell topscored for Kubic Transport while gentle medium-pacer Ryan Quin finished with the unflattering figures of 0-52 off two overs.
More than $25,000 was raised for popular Thurgoona football identity Josh Smith who is fighting cancer.
"We messaged Bill (Smith) who was keeping an eye on things," Thurgoona coach Kade Brown said.
"It was a pretty emotional day for the family to be honest as there was a fantastic turn out."
Josh is Thurgoona's No.1 water boy, as well as organising lifts for players when they are in need.
