Rutherglen-based Victorian Farmers Federation Grains Group president Ashley Fraser said that the latest border closure was going to add a layer of difficulty to harvest.
"Just as long as common sense prevails with regards to farming operations," he said.
"It took a little while with the Victoria-NSW border before we got to a common-sense approach."
Mr Fraser has family coming to help with a bumper harvest with the NSW border opening.
"I'm very welcoming of the NSW one coming down," he said.
Federation mayor Pat Bourke also expected it would impact on the availability of contractors.
"It will effect some, to what extent, I don't know," he said.
"It is a worry, with the outbreak there [in South Australia]. Let's hope people stay vigilant.

"We're certainly looking for the influx of people after the 23rd to boost the local economy.
"There's no doubt there will be a massive reaction in Mulwala to the border opening."
Cr Bourke said there had been a rise in bookings to the Ball Park Caravan Park around the 23rd but suspected they were people who usually holiday in the area, rather than those coming for cross-border travel.
