Binoculars and race book in hand, the Corowa local won the men’s classic race wear section in the fashions on the field event with his black suit, hat, merlot-coloured tie and matching handkerchief in his breast pocket.
“I’ve had this for a few years. It’s normally my wedding and funerals suit, I only added the hanky,” Mr Bruce said.
“I only just wandered over here to see what’s going on.”
Brodie Wood, 20, put a little more thought into the outfit that won her the young contemporary section.
The former Corowa resident, who studies fashion in Sydney, went with a deck of cards theme with her black and white Cue dress, red gloves she bought on eBay and the fascinator she made herself.
Compere and former model Chris Thomas said vintage was in.
