The Hawks took until round six to find their first win of the season and won the flag from sixth on the ladder.
After three washouts to start, Kiewa have split the last two games as Yackandandah got one back last week for the grand final defeat.
They face an in-form Baranduda at Kiewa on Saturday.

"It's been tough to get settled, but all the boys have been keen to get to training," Bartel said.
"Baranduda are playing some really good cricket and it's going to be another good test."
Graeme Edwards has replaced Charlie Heffernan.
