Campbell caught the attention of several Border clubs while playing in the AFL Riverina Championship this year with Brayden O'Hara and Joel Mackie rating him highly.
He has signed with Western Region Football League division two club Parkside as assistant coach.
Campbell made the move out of Victoria to reunite with Wagga Tigers once Melbourne was put into lockdown.
He has since returned to the city despite strong interest from a number of country clubs.
"I'm looking forward to having some fun, playing with some mates," Campbell said.
Campbell moved to Melbourne at the end of the 2018 season and spent 2019 with Ballarat league club Melton.
