After making a surprise departure from Wangaratta in August, the veteran midfielder mulled over several options before committing to the biggest lifestyle change of his career.
Former Yarrawonga coach Peter 'Steak' Seymour is heavily involved with Centrals Trinity Beach.
Morgan will move north in the New Year.
"As a family we were looking for something a bit different and we're really excited about it," the former Benalla premiership coach said.
"I was keen to continue my coaching and playing and that was something I was looking at when I went through the options.
"I wasn't going to play against Benalla or Wangaratta so I'm really happy with how it has panned out to be honest."
Former Melbourne and Geelong player Sam Blease is football manager at the club.
Port Douglas has dominated the competition for the past decade while former Melbourne speedster Aaron Davey coaches Cairns City Lions.
"It's not the Ovens and Murray but there are some good players up there and hopefully it continues to grow," Morgan said.
Morgan said he would be happy to talk to any North-East footballers looking for a lifestyle change.
