Clinton Austin went to the victim's Trudewind Road home on April 24 last year to confront the man over a broken window.
The County Court heard the resident, Robert Gates, had smashed a window at Austin's sister's home across the road.
Austin and another man ripped the front door handle off Gates' house before Austin attacked Gates.
Gates hit him with a knife, causing a small cut and making Austin enraged.
He chased the victim inside his home, punching and kicking him multiple times as two women and two young children were inside.

He also admitted to later kicking in Gates' car on January 24, with his admissions leading to him being taken into custody.
Gates was also charged with breaking the window but wasn't jailed.
