Vice-captain Andrew Dishot hopes they can stop the rot and wrestle back some momentum with four games to be played before the Christmas break.
He added there needs to be a bit more support with the bat for skipper Andrew Creamer, who made 81 of the team's 150 in a 19-run loss to Barnawartha-Chiltern.
"It definitely hasn't been the start we wanted. A couple of years ago we had a similar start and came back from there," he said.
ALSO IN SPORT:
"Batting-wise, establishing partnerships has been a struggle. Last weekend (against Barnawartha-Chiltern) was a good point where we didn't really have any substantial partnerships and it probably cost us the match.
"The rest of us need to step up and support him (Creamer) a bit more."
The Demons face an improved Bethanga side today which has shown glimpses it can mix it with the best in the competition.
"The pick ups they've got over the last two years are all really strong players and they're definitely a much stronger side than they've been in previous years," Dishot said.
"There's no easy games. The whole competition has been very close this year."
Also this weekend, Baranduda will look to build on last weekend's victory against reigning premiers Kiewa when it hosts grand finalists Yackandandah, Mount Beauty take on Barnawartha-Chiltern, while Kiewa meet Eskdale.
