The Baranduda and Wangaratta based co-operative has decided to give the money they would usually spend on Christmas parties to some of the region's charities.
Albury-Wodonga's FoodShare, St Stephen's Uniting Church and the Albury-Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre Trust Fund were among those chosen to receive donations from the business on Friday.
NorMac Rural, which became part of the Yenda Producers group back in June, is contributing close to $26,000 in total to charities here and north of the border in the Yenda region.
"With COVID, it just wasn't going to be practical to have a members party this year," Yenda Producers managing director Peter Calabria said.
"It was an opportunity to show our members we're giving back to them, but in a different way.
"It's not a cold beer, but a helping hand."
IN OTHER NEWS:
FoodShare manager Peter Matthews welcomed the donation, which will contribute towards their annual Christmas campaign.
The organisation is currently working to put together Christmas hampers.
"This is a bonus, we weren't really expecting it," Mr Matthews said.
"This will be fantastic to add some Christmas food to our hampers.
"It's been a huge year with bushfires and COVID."
Terry Greaves, who recently helped raise more than $170,000 for the Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre through his Big Bearded Ball Drop, said the donation was the "icing on top."
Mr Calabria thanked NorMac's staff in Baranduda and Wangaratta for keeping the business running throughout the pandemic and border closure.
