Wangaratta, Glenrowan, Benalla and Euroa residents have formed the North East Rail Alliance to highlight issues they have with the Australian Rail Track Corporation's plans to build new railway overpasses to allow an easier passage through their communities for double-stacked freight trains.

David Moore is a member of Better Benalla Rail and said groups from the four towns had met regularly online and have arranged to catch up with Indi MP Helen Haines next week.
"We will be asking her to organise a meeting with the Premier (Daniel Andrews) and Minister for Transport (Jacinta Allan) because they can no longer pretend they don't have an axe to grind in this," Mr Moore said.
