The former Twin City Wanderers and Boomers player, who scored 17 goals in his 36 national appearances, has had a desire to give back to the game since the end of his professional career in 2015.
Kennedy joined Football Victoria at the start of the year as its Miniroos manager and is excited for the next chapter.

"I've been fortunate throughout my football career to have worked with many inspiring mentors, who encouraged me to always look to the future and how I could be involved with the next generations of footballers, off the pitch," he said.
"When this role presented itself, I jumped at the opportunity to be involved.
"It's been a difficult year for all Victorians without the game we love and I am looking forward to working with everybody involved in our NPL/NPLW Victoria competitions in 2021."
Border-based club Murray United has several youth sides which compete in NPL Victoria competitions.
He will commence his new role on Monday.
