After nominating the Alpine Saints as his home club for the past three seasons, Munro will join Jake Sharp's line-up full-time after an impressive 73-match VFL career.
His arrival comes only weeks after star Werribee teammate Kurt Aylett committed to the Ovens and Murray club.
"Matt's got a good connection with myself and Kurt Aylett from Werribee as we were all pretty close in Melbourne," Sharp said.
"I think I lived with Matt for three years and we played at Werribee for five years together.
"He's got to know quite a few of the Myrtleford boys over the past couple of years as well.
"To get a player of Matt's calibre is pretty exciting."

The former Xavier High School student was also sounded out by Albury after playing in the Tigers' 2014 grand final win against Lavington.
The 25-year-old small forward kicked 69 goals for Werribee.
"He's had a massive impact in the VFL as a small forward with pressure and goal assists," Sharp said.
"He nearly led the VFL last year with that.
"We will look to put him on ball at times as well."
Munro is the fourth major Mytleford signing since the 2019 season after it locked away Aylett, Taylor Hunt and Dawson Simpson.
Tom Ellard and Blake Parker have departed which has eased some player points pressure.
