Goodwin, who stands at 201-centimetres and weighs 105kg, committed to the Roos this week after playing under Roo coach Peter German at Coburg.
He won a best and fairest at Coburg as well as captaining the club and has experience with Port Melbourne, Port Adelaide (SANFL), East RIngwood and Box Hill.

"He's very powerful and it's fantastic to have him on board.
"Peter German instigated it.
"He knows some of our players and past players in Jim Svarc and Jay O'Donoghue so there is a good link to the area."
Goodwin, 28, represented the VFL against the WAFL and is the son of former Richmond and Melbourne player, Andy.
It is believed Wodonga Raiders also sounded out Goodwin after man-mountain Brodie A'vard opted to join Barooga.
Corowa-Rutherglen has been the most active club in the Ovens and Murray over the off-season with the Roos signing several recruits.
Former Ballarat and Mornington Peninsula Nepean Football League Team of the Year member Kyle Docherty, three-time Wahgunyah best and fairest Matt Grantham, former Williamstown onballer Charlie Nastasi and Spotswood's Jason Marks have already committed.
Svarc and Docherty will replace forwards Damian Cupido and Trent Castles.
