The Victorian paceman took 212 Test wickets in his 53 matches for Australia and has been a regular visitor to the region with his work as a coach after his retirement from professional cricket.

Hughes has been a big supporter of Shaun Brown's Cricket Coaching program, which originated in regional Victoria in 1987 and has spread across Australia, with more than 60,000 junior players involved.

"I've been to Albury a few times and hopefully it's going to be huge with parents keen to get the kids out of the house for a few days," Hughes said.

"It's a very strong sporting community and the clinics always seem to be well supported.

"With cricket back on the TV and Australia having started really well in the one-dayers, it's going to be a huge summer with India out here to play the four test matches.

"If you've got a daughter who is keen on cricket, don't be scared to send her down as well because the opportunities now for girls in sport are enormous."

The camp will be held at Albury's Xavier High School on January 21 and 22 from 9am to 3pm each day.
