Speaking as the representative for the Minister for Women in Parliament on Monday, Ms Ley was asked to outline what was being done to help protect vulnerable women.
"It's a good time to thank our frontline workers, including the police and ambulance services, but also the support workers, the counsellors, those who work patiently and sensitively to help women overcome the effect of domestic violence and provide them with the assistance to rebuild their lives," she said.
She said the federal government had spent $150 million in domestic and family violence response packages during the COVID-19 pandemic, working with the state and territory governments.

The MP referred to the Help is Here campaign, launched earlier in the year, which lists domestic violence support services in each state.
"Everybody has a right to be safe in their homes, their communities and workplaces," Ms Ley told Parliament.
Ms Ley and Indi MP Helen Haines are both in Canberra for what will be the last parliamentary sitting week for 2020 before the summer break.
In another speech on Monday, Dr Haines back a proposal from the Grattan Institute to increase the childcare subsidy for low-income families from 85 per cent to 95 per cent.
She said less than 50 per cent of families in Indi access at least one day of childcare per week, which is "not enough".
The Grattan Institute found that spending an extra $5 billion a year on childcare subsidies would result in an $11 billion-a-year increase in GDP from the boost to workforce participation.
The social and economic marginal benefits of high-quality childcare far outstrips corresponding costs.
- Indi MP Helen Haines
"When you look at the nuts and bolts, it's a no-brainer ... The return on investment is massive," Dr Haines said.
"The social and economic marginal benefits of high-quality childcare far outstrips corresponding costs.
"With this knowledge, we should be doing all we can to expand the childcare sector and reform the childcare subsidy scheme to maximise the access."
