Having lost six months' work overnight when the coronavirus crisis shut down the arts and entertainment sector in autumn, Gibson said the year just ran differently than planned.
"I had B and S balls, rodeos and even a B and S in the Northern Territory lined up this year and I had planned to go back to Nashville and New York but none of that happened this year," she said.
"At the end of the day everything works out."
Based at Wangaratta, Gibson did her first live gig in six months in early October at Echuca.
"The game's changed a bit and we've had to change with it," Gibson said,
"I've done a lot more acoustic shows; I've done all ticketed events so you're playing to a really appreciative audience.
"There has been no dancing until recently so people have had to really focus on listening to the music.
"The Great Southern Nights events were really awesome and my new band debuted for one at Beer Deluxe Albury."

The Wangaratta-born-and-bred artist said she planned to tour the east coast of Australia next year.
She said without the unusual year of 2020, this opportunity might never have come up.
"I'll do an acoustic tour of the east coast," she said.
"I've been stripped back down to my roots this year.
"It's kind of a music-funded trip with my partner and our dog, all the way up to Airlie Beach just to get out and see people.
"Country music is really popular in NSW and Queensland; it's a good time to travel there.
"2021 is going to incredible for Australian tourism with people travelling domestically like never before."
Gibson said she planned to record a new album with a well-known Australian producer, who remained under wraps for now.
She would launch a new song in early February.
"I'm making everything really Australian-based now because who knows when things will open up again," Gibson said.
You can see Gibson live at Corowa Whisky and Chocolate (December 18), Precinct Bar & Restaurant (Christmas Eve), The Plough Inn (Boxing Day) and The Vine Hotel (New Year's Eve).
