A Wangaratta man has been caught allegedly travelling at 193km/h in a 100km/h zone in Glenrowan on Wednesday.

Wangaratta Highway Patrol officers were in an unmarked police vehicle when the red Ford sedan overtook them on the Hume Freeway at about 7am.
The 44-year-old driver had a 15-year-old passenger in the car when he was intercepted by police.
The man has had his car impounded for 30 days at a cost of $1625 and will also be charged on summons with traffic offences.

"It's extremely disappointing to see such dangerous driver behaviour in the lead up to Christmas," Wangaratta Highway Patrol Acting Senior Sergent Michael Connors said.
"We want everyone to make it home safely so they can enjoy the holiday period with their families.
"Police will have a highly visible presence over the Christmas and New Years period to hold these dangerous drivers to account."
