Albury Wodonga Farmers Market will run its twilight market at Junction Place in Wodonga on Wednesday.

Farmers Market vice-president Louisa Morris said the new Gateway Village checkpoint had come out of left field amid the Sydney coronavirus cluster.

Ms Morris said Wodonga Council had supported the market committee to find an alternative venue for the twilight market.

"Junction Place is a really nice space and we're hoping people will come out and support us," she said.

"We're still running at the same time, 4pm to 8pm, and the same stallholders are coming along.

"Border residents only need to show their driver's licence at checkpoints."

The owner of Gateway Village-based La Maison Restaurant, Wassim Saliba, said with strong bookings Tuesday and Wednesday, he would monitor the checkpoint impact.

Saliba urged border diners to keep their bookings despite potential delays.

"It should be business as usual for border residents," he said.

Saliba said he had lost interstate bookings since Victoria introduced border permits.

"We had three or four cancellations from people who were coming to the border for events or were travelling through to other destinations," he said.

"Some of those people were coming from Sydney or had been to Sydney, so they've done the right thing."

Saliba said they were on their last stretch this week with the restaurant to close from Christmas Day until January 8.

Ms Morris said with no farmers' market on Boxing Day, they would consider the January 2 market venue nearer the date.

"We'll wait and see and play it by ear."
