The disqualification of six-time winner Trevor Sutherland has opened up the race for the trainer's title and it is Scott who has scooted to the lead, courtesy of her best ever start to the season.
Scott leads on 13 winners, two ahead of fellow Albury trainer Mitch Beer. Experienced Jerilderie horseman Phil Sweeney is third on nine wins, with the Canberra teams of Joseph-Jones (seven) and Luke Pepper (six) rounding out the top five.
Scott was pleasantly surprised to find herself leading the premiership after almost five months.
"Yeah look, it's been sensational up until now," Scott said.
"Our numbers have increased obviously but we've got good staff, a good base of clientele and owners and a couple of handy horses helps a bit as well."
Scott concedes it will be hard to hold off stables like Hayes-Dabernig in the run home, but will try her best to hold onto the lead for as long as possible.
