Gladys Berejiklian was speaking of Victoria's decision to close the border to NSW after coronavirus cases begun to grow in the southern state.
"While I don't criticise other state governments for their decisions, at times I feel they are jumping too soon," she said during her morning press conference.
"No matter how tight your borders are you are going to have exemptions with travellers being through different parts of the country.
"When you have 55 potential crossings that is always going to happen.

"I don't think closing the border is a good use of resources.
"I think we are better to ask the community to come forward and get testing."
Ms Berejiklian said the NSW government wasn't thinking of re-closing the border with Victoria at this time.
