The council issued an apology on its Facebook page regarding the shortfall.
"Council appreciates recent feedback that the cleanliness of some public toilets and public place bins did not meet community expectations over the Christmas/New Year break," they said.
"Following unprecedented demand on public amenities and public place bins across the Shire over this holiday period, we have had difficulty meeting demand.
"A large influx in visitors across all townships, along with an increase in waste and recycling being produced by people self catering or choosing takeaway rather than dining in, caused a shortfall in the servicing at some sites.
"We have put in place additional dedicated resources to support our contractors to provide an effective service.
"Council apologises for any inconvenience. We always welcome feedback to ensure our facilities and open spaces are clean and tidy."
