The treat is the creation of Beechworth teenager Annisa Duggan who has just launched the Border Barkery which specialises in making gourmet cakes for dogs.
The 15-year-old has combined her passion for baking, her love of dogs and a budding penchant for business into a new venture.
Annisa, who will start year 10 at Trinity High School this year, was inspired to start the business when she saw family in Melbourne purchase cakes for their pets.
"I thought it was a really good idea and a fun thing to do," she said.
"I didn't see anything like that up here so I thought give it a try.
"I get to bring both of my loves together - dogs and baking.
"I really like baking and really like dogs and animals but especially dogs."
IN OTHER NEWS:
The cakes consist of dog friendly natural ingredients and was dutifully taste tested by Annisa's own dogs Pippi and Pedro.
The pair of pooches have approved all prototypes.
Thanks to her very proud father, who owns a catering business in Wodonga, Annisa is able to make the cakes in a commercial kitchen.
"I've been baking since I was little and have sold cakes to my parent's friends before but I only recently started trying out dog cakes," she said. "My dad owns a catering business and I've helped out with him a lot. I really enjoy making cakes for people as well make slices for dad's business."
At this stage Annisa hasn't decided what path she might want to pursue after finishing high school, but hopes she might be able to continue building the Border Barkery into the future if it is successful.
