Pepa Randall is part of the Giants leadership group and said the possibility of returning to Lavington Sportsground for an AFLW game is "high on the agenda" after using the facility for several training sessions since an unanticipated relocation to the Border on January 1, due to Sydney's COVID-19 outbreak.

The Giants played a premiership match at Wagga's Robertson Oval in the 2020 season and Randall believes the side relishes the chance to get out of the city.

"We'd love to have the opportunity to play down here," she said.

"We've found we love playing in rural NSW, so it would be awesome if we could line up a game here.

"I've already been imagining playing at Lavington, it's a nice size arena and it wouldn't be all that bad to have a beer on the hill and watch a game of footy in the afternoon in summer."

Randall said the team will be sad to leave Albury having taken a liking to the Border city, which was largely an unknown to most of the playing group before the sudden move.

"The river has been a favourite spot for our girls and Noreuil Park is a great spot. I think we've been there pretty much every day," she said.

"It's a nice size, it's easy to get around, there's lots to do and it's not overwhelming.

"I think for a while, Melbourne was an option for us and a few girls were a bit concerned we'd almost feel more isolated in a big city, being stuck in a hotel with not a lot around us."

The Giants had their final training session at Lavington on Thursday and will drive to Canberra today, before flying to Adelaide.

A practice match has been scheduled for the Giants against the Crows at Norwood Oval on Sunday, with Fremantle to await them in round one on January 31.

Having spent more than 14 days in regional NSW, the Giants satisfy border guidelines and are able to relocate to South Australia and then fly to Western Australia to take on the Dockers.
