A man who fell from a southern Sydney unit block where a Chinese student was later found dead has been charged with her murder and ordered to remain behind bars for at least six weeks.

Weijie He, 21, was found injured on the footpath outside the Wolli Creek apartment block on June 27 last year, having fallen from the fourth floor.
He remains in St George Hospital, having suffered head injuries. His fall from the apartment block is not considered suspicious.
Officers the next day attended an apartment in the complex and found the body of 19-year-old Liqun Pan, a Chinese national studying English on a student visa.
Police attended St George Hospital on Wednesday and charged He - also a Chinese national on a student visa - with murder.
His case was mentioned in Sutherland Local Court later on Wednesday and he declined to apply for bail, which was formally refused by magistrate Jayeann Carney.
He'll return to the same court on March 2.
