I walked in and was assailed with friendly, competent and compassionate public servants.
Terrific experience. I renewed license, registration, applied for the NSW travel voucher and was outside within 10 minutes.
IN OTHER NEWS:
If only we could receive the same service from Macquarie Street.
Premier Glad and out local vet, who has dead set gone missing in the lock-down fiasco, occasionally seen lurking on the edge of Glad's press pontifications obviously under orders to be a good boy and keep his mouth shut.
Can't have everything.
At least at the local level of public service we've got winners.
Thanks to all for the great service experience this morning.
Tony Clarke West Albury.
Award a double fault
Australia Day awards would normally result in community pride, recognising service and united community values.
But the proposed award of a Companion of the Order of Australia to former tennis star Margaret Court has already inspired local protest and division.
Farrer MP Sussan Ley has been asked to convey an objection to the prime minister on behalf of the community in making an award running counter to contemporary national values, and potentially costing the lives of local young people .
MORE LETTERS:
This award is an act of social vandalism, and runs counter to the national priorities of mental health and welfare of all citizens in the wake of bushfires and the COVID-19 crisis .
Margaret Court has consistently used her sporting profile to promote discrimination against fellow Australians under the banner of religious freedom, the award making a mockery of national awards as representing the best values of the whole community.
It is not just members of the LGBTIQA community but all who are concerned for mental health and well being .
The late great Tim Fischer AC and all others who have received this AC award are dishonored and the awards system devalued by the inclusion of a person who excelled in sport but disgraced her public opportunity.
It is impossible to prioritise youth mental health and give ammunition to a serial offender who takes aim at Australian minorities as we did in the 1950s.
We no longer stand for some-thing by standing on some-one. Taking credit for the fire truck while quietly lighting the fires needs to be exposed not politely applauded.
It is like being shot with your own gun to have the government elected to defend its most vulnerable, releasing these petrified values upon a new unsuspecting generation.
This award is entirely consistent with the prime minister's political promise to legislate to protect the right of faith-based discrimination, but inconsistent with credible national leadership.
Thanks to professional sports we have been already been given a COVID coaching session on special treatment and inequality in Australia that will only encourage cashed-up religious, political and financial interests to push for legislative prerogatives and exemptions, to the detriment of national unity and "a fair go".
This award needs to be hit back over the net from Margaret Court's home town and across the country until the umpire in Canberra rules it out.
