A National Gallery of Victoria favourite, Shearing the Rams (1890), is coming to Wangaratta, coinciding with the 130th anniversary of the artwork painted near Corowa.
The painting will tour as part of Shearing the Rams, the Artist, the Painting, a Moment in Time at Wangaratta Art Gallery from Saturday until February 28.

National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) director Tony Ellwood said Roberts' Shearing the Rams was an iconic work in both the NGV Collection and the Australian artistic cannon.
"In this work, the artist captures the atmosphere of the shearing shed with an astonishing realism, but also with a sense of reverence for Australian pastoral life," he said.
"The NGV is committed to providing access to art and design to all Victorians."
Rural City of Wangaratta Mayor Dean Rees said the display would attract tourists and deepen understanding of the region's heritage.
"For Wangaratta Art Gallery to host such an iconic Australian Impressionist painting that connects so closely to our region and our agricultural beginnings is bound to be a huge attraction for our region," he said.
Wangaratta Art Gallery director Simone Nolan said Roberts painted and researched Shearing the Rams at Brocklesby.
"We want to celebrate our local farmers and our agricultural history, and I firmly believe this work will do that," she said.
