At the height of the pandemic, the committee running the Wodonga Men's Shed were putting in welfare calls to check up on their mates.

For blokes who usually see each other once, twice and sometimes three times a week, being isolated really highlighted the need for the volunteer-run shed.
But once restrictions eased and the workshop could be opened again, that demand has only increased.
So much so the Wodonga Men's Shed will now open on Saturdays for the first time.
Treasurer Garry Knight told The Border Mail the shed will open on Saturday, February 8 from 8am to 4pm.
"The shed is quite active and we are getting more and more blokes coming in who are either working during the week or have other commitments on," he said.
"We have a really good resource so we want to make the best use of it.
"So Saturdays will really benefit the community I think."
Mr Knight said there is no obligation to even pick up a tool when coming along.
"They can either work on their own project if they have something at home or they just want to join in the community group and help out with the community projects we have," he said.
"We do lot of work for the pre-schools, we have just refurbished a whole lot of furniture for the local pre-schools and that sort of thing.

"Or they might just be of a need to come along and talk to some blokes, there is no requirement to actually do anything while they are here.
"It is casual, you don't have to book in or anything."
Like everything in the community, the men's shed had to adapt during the lockdown and Mr Knight said once they could reopen again their demand increased.
"It is really reinforced just how important it is to the blokes who come," he said.
"Our roll-ups have been very, very solid ever since we opened up again - we are getting 35 to 40 blokes every morning we open up, which is only three days a week at the moment.
"Many of the blokes really do love it and it is an outing for them, a chance to talk with blokes they have known for a long time or it is a reason for them to get out of their house.
"Everyone is really keen to see the shed grow and welcome new blokes, whether that is just once or ongoing, it really doesn't matter.
"If you are just looking to get out of the house, have a project you are working on and need some tools, or are keen to check it out, come down and say g'day."
The shed is located at 16 Jamieson Court, West Wodonga and is open from 8.30am to 12pm Monday, Wednesday and Friday and from next week 8am to 4pm on Saturday.
