If results go as expected in Saturday's round 15, there will be a game and a half break between the sixth-placed outfit and Eskdale with only three rounds left.
So the stakes couldn't be higher for the visitors when they travel to competition leaders Yackandandah.
Jye Hodgkin is Eskdale's leading run-scorer with 215 at 20, while Jamie Baude (17 wickets at 13) and Haydon Wilson (15 at 14) sit inside the top 10 wicket-takers at sixth and nine respectively.
The trio will need to fire to take down the home outfit.
Elsewhere, Mount Beauty is home to Dederang.
If the fifth-placed visitors can cause an upset it will make it extremely difficult for Eskdale to play finals.
