Herekiuha has played netball at a representative level in Canberra and spent the last two years of her playing career in Tuggeranong.
After her partner, Harry Weaven, joined the Saints from Jindera this season, Herekiuha decided to put her hand up for the role.
"I just really love how family oriented the club is," she said.
"They're a really good bunch of girls and we should have quite strong A, B and C teams."

Brock-Burrum defender Rachel Koschitzke said the club was pleased to have Herekiuha onboard, with several other newcomers also joining her.
"We've had quite a few new faces put their hands up to coach this year, so it's been good to have some fresh voices," Koschitzke said.
"We've had a really good turn out at our trials so far.
"It's looking like a positive year ahead."
Anne-Marie Hoodless will coach the club's B-grade, while Meloni Litchfield will steer C-grade.
The Saints are still on the hunt for a C-reserve coach for this season.
Brock-Burrum will take on Osborne for round one of the Hume league competition.
