Tom Thynne is a three-time Palm Beach Currumbin premiership midfielder, who Cresswell promoted to the seniors as a teenager in 2013.
"He's got really good feet in terms of his agility, he's quick and very good around the contest and carries the footy, he's just a modern-day player," Cresswell enthused.
"He can run around players and can turn nothing into something."
Thynne has spent most of his career with the Lions in the QAFL, apart from a two-year stint with Southport in the NEAFL in 2016-17.
The 24-year-old is a two-time club best and fairest and was pipped for the league's Grogan Medal in 2019, although he bolted in the coaches' award by 31 votes.
The 180cms, 84kg Thynne came through the Gold Coast Suns Academy and while he was never listed by the AFL outfit, he did play a handful of reserves games.
Cresswell has a remarkable ability to inspire loyalty in players with Gold Coast products Todd Grayson and Tyler Cornish also set to rejoin the Hawks' co-coach.
Thynne is moving to Melbourne shortly and will join the club's group of travellers.
And Tyler Roos has elected to make the Hawks his second club after signing with North Melbourne in the VFL.
He's the son of Paul Roos, the AFL Hall of Famer, who played alongside and coached Cresswell at Sydney.
"Tyler will play a minimum of 12 games for us," Cresswell offered.
"Like his dad, he's got that smart footy brain, he just reads the play, he's a high accumulator and an elite runner, he would be as good as anyone in his capacity to run.
"His biggest strength is his off-ball running, so he gets behind the ball really well, he's a natural footballer."
The news isn't all positive though with ex-Northern Blue Tyrone Armitage and Michael Manteit (Sandringham) not rejoining the club.
That will ease the points pressure, but Cresswell maintains it's not a concern.

"I think people forget we've lost six points in Nick Murray, Charlie Thompson will play every week for Coburg, there's four points, Tyrone Armitage was three, we've lost Tom McCaffrey, who was five in 2019, so a few points have walked out the door, we're not as bad off as people make out we are," he explained.
A number of the Hawks' recruits are one-pointers, such as former captain Tyson Hartwig, Heidelberg premiership player Ryan Stone and forward Alex Marklew, as they look to snap a seven-year finals drought.
